Brown + Navy

Today I’m highlighting the navy + brown combo. As i’ve mentioned previously, this is one of my favorite combinations, as it is effortless and classic. I own a variety of shades of navy, but for this look I chose to go with a darker navy as a subtle piece, which then allows the brown tie to make a statement. I added a light grey shirt with white collar contrast for a smart and crisp look but also neutral in order for the tie to be the center of attention. completed the look with dark grey trousers and a pair of brown shoes to complement the tie.

A Day in Anaheim

I had the pleasure of visiting Anaheim Packing District last week and I couldn’t have had a better experience. This amazing spot opened up a few months ago, May 31st to be exact, and has already captured the heart of the locals… And yours truly! I was amazed at how frequented it was, being a brand new place, but after spending the day there I quickly figured out why.  The very unique and welcoming decor, the various organic and delectable goodness and the very friendly and kindhearted people make this place an instant hit. It was a really enjoyable experience and I can’t wait to go back! If and when you visit “TheHouse”, be sure to check a few of my favorites, like “The lemondrop juice stand, the pop bar and of course crepe coop.

Since it was a leasure day, I hung the suit and kicked it casually. I paired a simple navy gingham shirt with navy blue chinos, and my comfortable Nike Waffles. I later threw on my green Asos sportcoat as we stopped at “The Camp” for dinner.

The rep tie

I thrifted this “Rep tie” a while ago, but for some reason never really wore it. I think it’s because it was buried under a pile of ties in my closet. It can be hard sometimes to pick the right tie for an outfit, especially when there’s over 2 dozen of them. For this outfit however I started with the tie, which made it easier in this instance because i had my statement piece. I chose to wear a white shirt and a light grey blazer for a great contrast, allowing that nice and crisp pop of green. I decided to wear a pair of green pants to match the tie. I’m not a big fan of matching everything because It gets boring after a while. I like to keep it intriguing, and I thought what better color than a lavender (check out my post on “how to wear lavender” ) pocket square to add a little bit of ambiguity. I completed the look with my favorite shoes, (you guys know them by now lol) and a navy pair of Gallant&beau socks.

Wings without feathers

Ever since I was a little kid I have been fascinated with the concept of flying. I couldn’t understand how something so big could fly as high and as freely as a bird… I can vividly remember getting on a plane for the first time at 14. It was love at first flight! It’s difficult to explain whether the feeling was of greatness or smallness. In a way, I looked at the world through the eyes of an outsider. Flying allows my thoughts to drift beyond the horizon as I see things from a broader perspective. I remember when it was time for me to go to college, I told my mother that I wanted to join the military Airforce, wanting to take my love for flight to the next level. But being her oldest and having to watch over my younger siblings, she somehow convinced me to set those dreams aside. Chances of that happening now are slim to none, however it remains one of my life goals to learn how to fly and experience this feeling inside the cockpit.

As i was perusing in santa monica, looking for a good spot to have lunch, i stumbled upon this private airpot flight training. I stopped by, chatted with the guys for at least 30 minutes, picking their brains. And there’s no way I wasn’t gonna have a photoshoot there, lol.
