1. We’ve all been witnessing the wave of colors, prints and patterns in menswear lately. Nothing against that, but from time to time, we need to change the music and go back to basic. With all this noise, we often forget to enjoy clothes for just quality and fit. I like to think that i make my clothes look good, not the other way around. Of course, i shop the right pieces, but confidence is what makes you stand out. And more often then not, that’s all you need. And of course a sense of style ;)
For today’s shoot, I kept it simple with a white pair of trousers and a basic stone colored shirt. Went with the navy blazer for a clean and sophisticated look. And completed the look with a neutral pair of shoes. As you can see, this look is about simplicity and fit.

    What i wore:

    Blazer by H&M
    Shirt by Asos
    Trousers by Express
    Belt by Jcrew
    Shoes by Zara

It’s been a really hectic past couple weeks trying to juggle so many things at once. But it was great to have finally found the time to work with my favorite photographer @doubleeaj from rickarez.com.
I wanted to go a bit casual today so i pulled out this new additon to my collection, the “Tiny flower navy” shirt by Kennington. The story behind this brand is really amazing! Six decades of beautiful history and cali culture. Although i was very impressed with the rich history behind the brand, i was even more amazed with the quality of the product. This 100% cotton piece of garment feels so soft and smooth, it may be the most comfortable shirt i have ever put on! Not to mention, the fit was just perfection. Love how it gives you a slimmer look without looking too tight-fitting. Also love the tiny flower prints. So subtle yet vibrant up close. You can tell when quality is a priority. I threw on a denim jacket and a bowtie to keep it simple.

I really love the brand and this is not going to be my last piece!

As a reward to my faithful readers, for the next 30 days, you can get your hands on one of these beautifully crafted shirts with this exclusive giftcode: GARCON10 and get $10 off your first Kennington purchase! Head over to www.kenningtonltd.com and cop yours while you can.

Rarely do i know what I’m going to wear when i wake up in the morning. I just love getting spontaneous and creative with my wardrobe before heading out the door. I think it’s a good way for me to stimulate my brain and get ready for my busy lifestyle.
While wandering through my closet this morning i stumbled upon this nicely pressed light blue gingham shirt that’s been hanging in a garment bag for a good while. I then picked out my green asos tie amongst various possible picks, because of the nice and crisp contrast of the green against the shirt. I immediately thought of navy as the neutral, adding my perfectly fitted vest and Riverisland trousers to the mix. I opted for my light brown h&m blazer because brown is a versatile color that looks great with almost anything. Adding a white pocket square with hints of green and a bold red lapel flower really made the look pop. And of course, completed the look with my favorite monk strap.

And that’s my way of putting it together!

  4. The contrast-collar shirt

    image

The contrast-collar shirt, originally known as a key piece in the fashion of ’80s corporate moguls, has been revived. The dramatic touch of the collar will be attention-grabbing not only for the outfit, but for you as well. The white contrast collar adds a smart and clean look against the light grey pinstriped shirt. And the Dark navy blazer brings it all together.

    image

Since i wanted my statement to be the contrast collar, I went a bit lighter on accessories with a grey tie, light grey lapel pin by riverisland and a white pocket square with brown accent.

    image

Kept it simple with my favorite pair of Grey trousers. they fit so perfectly! I think they are the best trousers i have ever own.

I completed the look with my brown double monkeys and added a pop of color with a pair of yellow/nude socks by barnesNY to keep it interesting.

  5. "Spring is in the air"

Yes! Spring is here!! I get really excited because spring is the best season.. To say the least, my favorite season. If you haven’t noticed, I’m really into colors, I love bold and bright colors and what better time to be bold than spring?
Above is an ensemble I put together to welcome the season..
I love this new blazer from Asos. This bold blue or indigo, I just found out, is the color of the season. I wanted to pair it with white trousers; and through some extensive searching online, I found those for 25 bucks. I completed the look with a brown pair of loafers and my new bag. I also had to wait for this bag, which is currently my new favorite piece of accessory, from ebay for about three weeks because it was sold out on asos.com

    From top to bottom:

    - Indigo blazer by Asos
    - light grey pinstripe shirt by Jcrew
    - green tie by Asos
    - tiebar by Jcrew
    - white trousers by Express
    - belt by Asos
    - loafers by Bostonian

  6. 5 ways to style your leather jacket

"You don’t have to have a lot of clothes to be fashionable, but you certainly have to have the right clothes"
    - Sophie Gimbel

Look 1: more of a classic. Easily put together with a plain white shirt and a vintage tie. (Can also be done with a black or navy tie) I wore my grey trousers and brown shoes to give it a more sofisticated look. Can be done for a dinner date, office party etc

Look 2: semi formal. I wore this outfit for a fashion event. I like to combine light blue and brown. It gives a cool and crisp look. I accessorized with my new Bowtie and a hat for a little more edgy feel

Look 3: casual. It was a chilly day and I wanted some extra layers to keep warm, so my light brown Zara vest came in handy. Completed the look with my favorite pair of nike and of course a hat.

Look 4: street style. Wearing skinny sweats with a button up shirt and red Nike shoes :)

Look 5: More of a everyday wear. I been feeling the all black lately. This look has a more urban feel.

Let’s just keep it real, Most of us do not have enough disposable income to refresh our wardrobe every season. Therefore, having the key pieces is important and will help you keep your looks fresh and interesting.
There are a few key pieces every gentleman should have in their wardrobe, which will be the subject of my next post, but for today let’s talk about the “black leather jacket”

What we’ve come to know as the quintessential leather jacket was born out of functionality, when they were created for aviators during WW1. The leather jacket has since become an essential piece abandoning its practical use in favor of a sartorial importance fueled by pop culture.

As seen above, I’ve compiled multiple looks showcasing 5 of the many ways one can style a leather jacket. Questions and comments are welcomed!

  7. Thrifted piece

Today’s post is all about this amazing trench coat I stumble upon at a thrift store about a week ago. For those of you who don’t know, thrift shopping plays a big part in building a unique wardrobe. In my opinion. Most people tend go for trendy and expensive brands which is fine if you can afford it, but when it comes to classic and timeless pieces, sometimes all it takes is a trip to the nearest thrift store. Above is a great example of my statement. I was heading home from guitar center when I saw this little standalone thrift store across the street. Went in and headed straight to the suiting section and there was this beautiful trench coat staring at me. I couldn’t believe that it was my size, but what blew me away was the price. For 7 bucks I was able to take this baby home!!! Spent 6 bucks at the cleaners and voilà!
I styled it with my favorite double breasted navy blazer which I also thrifted about a year ago :)
Cobalt blue trousers and tie with a light pinstripe jcrew shirt.

    From head to toe:
    Hat by h&m
    Tie by Asos
    Shirt by jcrew
    Navy blazer vintage (thrifted)
    Coat vintage (thrifted)
    Lapel pin by riverisland
Pocket square by yours truly (brand in the works..)
    Pants by jcrew
    Socks by Barney’s NY
    Shoes by ToBoot Newyork

  9. Frisco: A look back

    image

The one thing that I was not too fond of was the cold weather. Being from the Caribbean, I’m used to 365 days of summer and believe it or not, 50 degrees is too darn cold for me. So here is what i wore to keep me warm.

    image

This ensemble is a semi-casual streetwear. I’m wearing my light brown H&M blazer over a very comfortable j.crew shirt, added a little detail with my hugo boss tie. Also wearing one my favorite and most comfy dressy sweatpants. Yes! These are dressy sweatpants. And completed the look with some destroyed boots by Zara and a perfect black wool coat by j.crew. I know there have been some mixed feelings about the dressy sweats, but i love them. If you are feeling them, you should go for it!
